John MacLellan graduated with honors from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland receiving his B.A. in history and a minor in economics. While attending Washington College, John competed on the varsity sailing team.
Following graduation, John enrolled at the University of Baltimore School of Law. While attending law school at night, John clerked for multiple firms that advocated on behalf of injured individuals during the day. He was also a staff editor for the University of Baltimore Law Review and practiced as a student attorney for the Community Development Clinic. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and continued to work as an attorney in the fields of personal injury and consumer protection before coming to Gershon, Willoughby & Getz.
John is passionate about obtaining justice for his clients. He detests tort reform and the gamesmanship employed by defense attorneys. He takes great pride in eviscerating defense witnesses during cross-examination and exposing their lies.
Notable Achievements
Performed direct examinations of witnesses in Iowa’s first wrongful birth jury trial resulting in a $14,500,000+ verdict on behalf of his clients
Obtained a unanimous Georgia appellate decision holding that a mother suffering from advanced stage cancer could pursue her claims against health care providers for a missed diagnosis after more than two years had elapsed since her visit to said providers under the “new injury” exception to the statute of limitations. Tarver v. Sigouin, 360 Ga. App. 627, 860 S.E.2d 179 (2021) (cert. denied)
Contributed to numerous six and seven figure medical malpractice settlements against Doctors, Nurses, mid-level providers and Hospitals
